New World Record: A. Kanopkinas Kept High Pace for 24 Hours

ree

Antanas Kanopkinas – who has conquered the Dakar Rally on a quad bike, climbed podiums in numerous international competitions, and secured third place in the World Championship – has achieved his latest goal: setting a new world record for the longest distance covered on a quad bike in 24 hours. During the “CFMOTO Day Baltic 2025” event in Estonia, the athlete rode 1,500.6 kilometers on a specially designed track within a single day.

The previous officially recorded benchmark stood at 790 km in 24 hours on a quad bike. There are also video-documented attempts online showing nearly 1,200 kilometers covered within the same time, and even claims of a 1,464 km distance – though that ride was completed entirely on asphalt.

Two Oil Changes Along the Way

The circuit used for the attempt was mostly off-road, with only a few hundred meters paved, and each lap measured 5.7 kilometers. During the 24-hour challenge, the CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team rider completed 263 laps.

“There were many difficult phases – the weather changed every few hours, and I had to adapt each time. One moment it’s sunny with bugs flying everywhere, then it’s raining, foggy, windy… As soon as you adapt to one condition, it changes again. That was one of the toughest parts. Still, there were always people around the track – some festival attendees were sleeping nearby, some staff were preparing for the upcoming events, and in the morning, spectators started to gather. That really helped maintain my motivation and energy level,” Kanopkinas said.

“The biggest fatigue hit after 13–14 hours of riding, so we decided to do the oil change a bit earlier. I used that time to lie down for a few minutes. The whole stop took around 15–20 minutes – the mechanics also checked the suspension and all bolts. The track had two jumps that sent me airborne each lap, so a full inspection was necessary. Due to the many bumps and ruts, the suspension fully compressed three to five times per lap.”

The course featured 15 corners, and because it was almost entirely off-road, the riding conditions changed every lap. Deepening ruts in some corners even began to tilt the quad bike.

To complete the record attempt, Antanas used a brand-new, fully stock CFMOTO CFORCE 850 XC quad bike – exactly the kind any customer can buy. The oil was changed twice: first after 300 kilometers, and the second time after 1,050 kilometers, although it could have been delayed. Mechanics also had to adjust the headlight angle:

“Since I was riding fast and the front suspension has long travel, the headlights pointed skyward during acceleration and down at the ground when braking. After the first adjustment we lowered the beam, which helped when speeding up, but I couldn’t see while braking. The second adjustment found the golden middle.”

Throughout the entire ride, Kanopkinas maintained a steady endurance pace, avoiding aggressive braking or acceleration and striking a balance between speed and preserving the machine. He also had to carefully manage his physical energy and stay mentally focused. Despite the challenge, his average speed reached an impressive 70.6 km/h, and only less than three of the 24 hours were spent stopped.

After completing the ride and exceeding his goal, Kanopkinas was greeted with celebration among fellow motorcycle and ATV enthusiasts.

“Setting the record was no easy feat – but the harder it is, the more exciting it becomes. If anyone wants to break it, I wholeheartedly encourage them… but I’ll warn you now – it won’t be easy,” Kanopkinas said with a smile.
