Immediately after Easter, on the second day of April, the third round of the World Rally Raid Championship and the only one to be held in Europe will start in Portugal. In five days, the participants will have to overcome 1000 kilometers on the gravel roads, beaches and mountains of Portugal and Spain. This will also be the second start of the CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team in this championship this year. Two athletes will represent the team in the race taking place in the south of Europe: Antanas Kanopkinas and the Frenchman Gaetan Martinez.
"We haven't been to Portugal yet, so it will be great fun to write another competition and country in the team's history. It is also one of the strongest competitions of the World Championship, so our goal here remains exactly the same as always: to show ourselves and prove the ability of both the team and the CFMOTO to not only compete, but also to successfully reach the finish line in any race and challenge", - A. Kanopkinas spoke before the start.
The athlete was delighted to see a large group of quad bikes lining up at the start line for the BP Ultimate Rally-raid, including Can-Am, Polaris and Yamaha: "It makes for a lot of competition, and from that comes a lot of desire and motivation to drive. Of course, greater competition also raises our mood - the more competitors, the more memorable and fun the race becomes."
Traditionally, the team worked on quad bikes before the start and improved some of their elements. The changes made should increase the speed of the quads by several kilometers per hour, and some of the components are expected to become more durable. This technique improvement process is a big part of how the team works - after every finish the riders interact with the technicians, share experiences and find solutions to make the right improvements. The athlete says that the quad at the beginning of the season and after crossing the finish line of the last rally of the year is very different, although it may not be noticeable from the outside.
"A very interesting post-Easter week awaits. The team is looking forward to this start and, as always, our main goal remains the same - to have a good time", said A. Kanopkinas with a smile on his face.
