A tough second day in Morocco with a great result

Rallye du Maroc is now well underway. The competitors have completed roughly one third of the total race distance, and the second day once again proved why this is considered one of the toughest rounds of the season.

The riders covered a total of 432 kilometres, including a 300-kilometre special stage against the clock. The route featured demanding rocky sections, as well as plenty of sand and dunes. CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team rider Antanas Kanopkinas reached the finish tired, but very satisfied with the result.

“It was a very long day. At the beginning, I was really trying to protect the tyres, but it seemed even tougher for the motorcycles. I overtook a lot of bikes in those sections, and even more once we reached the dunes. They also weren’t able to catch me on the straights,” Kanopkinas said after reaching the finish.

The day was not entirely trouble-free, however. At one point, Kanopkinas made a navigation mistake and lost at least five minutes. Even so, it did not prevent him from achieving a strong result.

In the quad category, the CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team rider is in a comfortable leading position, while in the overall FIM classification, which also includes all motorcycles, he finished the day inside the top 50. As two-wheeled motorcycles are usually significantly faster than quads, the result gives the team even more reason to celebrate alongside first place in the quad category.

On Thursday, the competitors will face the longest special stage of the rally so far – 364 kilometres against the clock. The total distance for the day will reach 592 kilometres.

By the time they reach the finish tomorrow, the competitors will have completed more than half of the entire rally distance. The final finish line awaits on Saturday.
