On the penultimate day of the Morocco Rally, the CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team athlete faced significant challenges – Antanas Kanopkinas had to drive most of the speed section with a flat tire. Despite these difficulties, he successfully reached the finish line and is already preparing for the final stage of the rally.
"The day started off great – one or another motorcycle kept passing and leading the way, but around fifty kilometers in, many riders got lost, including myself. On top of that, I got a flat tire while wandering around. There were still 250 kilometers left to the finish, and I drove all of them with a flat tire. It cost me a lot of energy, nerves, and, of course, time," said A. Kanopkinas after a long and exhausting day.
The athlete also mentioned that he noticed a burning motorcycle on the track and stopped to help: "I tried to put out the fire by throwing sand lifted from under the wheels. I lost time there as well, but I will try to get compensation for those minutes. It’s been a tough day, but we’re not giving up: the mood is great, we’re alive and well, and the quad bike is still running, which is very good."
On Friday, the participants will again have to cover almost 400 kilometers, 273 of which will be a speed section. This time, the route will mainly consist of gravel roads, with about 20 percent of it being sand. According to provisional results, after the fourth stage, A. Kanopkinas is only eight minutes behind the class leader.
