The tenth stage of the Dakar Rally has been completed. Today, the participants drove a loop stage on the surroundings of the city of Al Ula and had to cover a total of more than 600 kilometers, of which 371 were special stage. CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team pilot Antanas Kanopkinas joked after finishing so early that he wouldn't know what to do for the rest of the day.
"I got a bit lost in the first part of the track. In one place, another, third. I let past maybe ten motorcycles while riding around. After that I spent about an hour to get and overtake them. I cleared the track and caught up with the next group - again in the dust. And so all day in the dust. But I am early at the finish and will soon return to the bivouac and I don't even know what to do so early," A. Kanopkinas said in a good mood and said that there were moments of such intense racing when he wanted to push the acclerator lever harder than possible.
Today, the athlete managed to record the fifth fastest time in the quad standings. Only five minutes until L. Kancius, who was in fourth place.
Tomorrow, one of the longest special stages of this Dakar awaits the participants. After starting in the city of AlUla, they will head towards Yanbu - during the day, the athletes will cover 107 kilometers in liaisons and 480 kilometers of special stage. Organizers are warning that this stretch could shake things up on the leaderboards and are also predicting that it will have the highest number of punctures in this year's Dakar Rally.
